I. Intro
I've added a picture on the timeline (See "The basics" on the right) and start the class by talking about family history. What are their parents names and grandparents names and how far back can they go? This relates to todays story as Adam and Eve are our first parents.
II. Bible Story
For todays lesson I will being moving to different rooms. Yes, I know that this causes confusion with the kids, but I have found that a change in environment aid in thier concentration.
For the first part of the lesson I read from the children's bible about the creation of Adam and Eve.
Next I move to another room where I've placed a fake tree in the front of the sitting area. I have my High School assistent put on a a sock puppet of a snake that I have created and have the "snake" sit in the tree.
I then invite two students (a boy and girl) to the front of the class to help act out the rest of the story (which I read from the Bible)
III. Memory Verse
IV. Game
I created a game board and used questions from the following site:
http://www.ebibleteacher.com/children/lessons/OT/Genesis/Adameve1.htm
This is a great set of questions because it goes into the different levels of how the student thinks.

Lesson 1: God created the World
I. Intro
I talked to the kids about how they thought the world was created. Some of them talked about "mother earth" and others talked about evolution. I explained that the bible told us the way the earth was created.
II. Bible Story
this is a fun lesson to do. I read the story to the kids from the children's Bible. Then I went over the story from the Genesis account. I printed out 8 verses on cards for the kids to read. To make the story visual I used brown paper bags to hide objects that related to each day. After the kids would read the verse, I would then open the corresponding bag and we would see what was inside together.
verses/ and what I put in the bags:
day 1: (1:5) Flashlight- to show the difference between light and darkness
day 2: (1:8) paper cloud- to show how God separated the sky
day 3: (1:10) a baby food jar with water, that I dyed blue- to show how God separated water from dry land & a small plant- to show how God created vegetation
day 4: (1:16) glow-in-the-dark sun, moon and stars- to show how God created them
day 5: (1:21) a goldfish- to show how God made fish and birds. (this, by far, was the bag that got the kids excited the most!)
day 6: (1:25) (1:27) a stuffed animal and a barbie doll- animals and humans
day 7: (2:3) a pillow- to show how God rested
the kids enjoyed the visual stimulation immensely!
III. Memory Verse
I choose Genesis 1:1
"In the begining God created the Heavens and the earth"
my younger sister is taking sign language classes in high school so I decided to use sign language to teach the verse.
We signed the following words: begining, God, created, heavens, earth
(on the links section I posted the site we used to learn the signs)
this was so helpful for my kinesthetic kids! memorization was so much easier when you had "hand-motions" to accompany it.

why blog?
Just wanted to get out the reason I'm doing this blog. I go to a very small church and I have to create my sunday school lesson's from scratch. So I do that by researching different lesson plans online. So then I realized, "why not post the lesson plans I come up with, in the off chance that someone may use it?"
thus the creation of this blog.
hopefully you find this information benefical and useful.
in Christ,
